The heartwood colour is pale yellow, with clearly defined growth rings. It is straight grained, with a fine, even texture.
ALBASIA

Heartwood whitish to pale pinkish, yellowish or reddish brown. Not clearly demarcated from sapwood in young trees, in old trees more clearly. Moderately coarse but even texture.
DURIAN

Heartwood is pink brown, grey brown , brown with a red tinge or light orange brown. Grain is straight to slightly interlocked. Texture is moderately coarse.

Heartwood is pale to mid red-brown. Sapwood yellow, pink or grey and usually distinguishable. Texture coarse but even. Grain interlocked, usually giving a ribbon or strip figure to the radial surface.
